Complexity and Interaction: Blurring Borders between Physical, Computational, and Social Systems - Preliminary Notes

چکیده
Complex systems of any type are characterised by autonomous components interacting with each other in a non-trivial way. In this paper we discuss how the views on complexity are evolving in fields like physics, social sciences, and computer science, and – most significantly – how they are converging. In particular, we focus on the role of interaction as the foremost dimension for modelling complexity, and discuss first how coordination via mediated interaction could determine the general dynamics of complex software system, then how this applies to complex socio-technical systems like social networks.

Interaction between NaY Zeolite and boric Acid: a preliminary computational study
A computational study of the electronic structure and stability of complexes formed between Zeolite Y and boric acid was carried out at the HF and B3LYP levels using 6-31G* basis set. Five structures located as local minimum in PES of complex (structures d, e, f, g, and h). The most stable structure is formed due to hydrogen bonding between two hydroxyl of boric acid and both oxygen of ...
متن کاملCyber Can Kill and Destroy Too: Blurring Borders Between Conventional and Cyber Warfare
Cyberwarfare has become a fashionable topic in the last decade, partly because of the ever increasing sophistication of computer attacks, partly because of malicious actors setting their sight on industrial systems such as plants. Modern production systems are characterized by an IT-infrastructure controlling effects in the physical world. Such systems are called cyber-physical systems. In this...
متن کاملA computational chemistry investigation of the intermolecular interaction between ozone and isothiocyanic acid (HNCS)
The binding energy and geometrical structure of all the possible dimeric systems of isothiocyanic acid (HNCS) with ozone have been investigated in the gas phase, theoretically. Six minima located on the singlet potential energy surface of the HNCS–ozone system at the MP2 level with binding energies (corrected with ZPE and BSSE) in the range 492.29–531.40 kcal/mol. All intermolecular interaction...
متن کاملUsing Complexity to Simplify Knowledge Translation; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
Putting health theories, research and knowledge into practice is a challenge referred to as the knowledge-toaction gap. Knowledge translation (KT), and its related concepts of knowledge mobilization, implementation science and research impact, emerged to mitigate this gap. While the social interaction view of KT has gained currency, scholars have not easily made a link between KT and the concep...
متن کاملThe Importance of α-CT and Salt bridges in the Formation of Insulin and its Receptor Complex by Computational Simulation
Insulin hormone is an important part of the endocrine system. It contains two polypeptide chains and plays a pivotal role in regulating carbohydrate metabolism. Insulin receptors (IR) located on cell surface interacts with insulin to control the intake of glucose. Although several studies have tried to clarify the interaction between insulin and its receptor, the mechanism of this interaction r...
